BlueGreen Alliance chief heads to Energy Department

Director of the BlueGreen Alliance, David Foster, is joining the Energy Department as a senior adviser on industrial and economic policy.

Foster will be a direct adviser to Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, the BlueGreen Alliance said in a statement.

{mosads}He will be joining the Energy Department on June 27, according to a department memo.

Moniz praised Foster for finding common ground between energy and environmental issues and job creation.

Foster will handle strategic engagement with industrial labor union and economic and and labor policy. He will lead in expanding job creation in a low-carbon economy, the memo states.

Foster has been at the forefront as one of the labor movement’s leading environmental advocates. Prior to helping found the BlueGreen Alliance, Foster served from 1989 to 2006 he was director of the United Steelworkers District 11, which encompassed 13 states in the northwest.
