Kerry: Not even my wife knows Keystone opinion

Secretary of State John Kerry is so tight-lipped about the Keystone XL pipeline, he told college students Tuesday, that even his wife doesn’t know his opinion.

Speaking on the myriad takes on Keystone that he has to consider from government agencies, the public and others, Kerry said he would not tell anyone whether or not he plans to recommend the pipeline’s construction to President Obama

{mosads}“My job is to stay down-the-middle, neutral,” he said.

“There’s a massive job of information sifting and accumulation here … I’m not commenting in any other way on it to anybody, including my wife and others, all of whom have opinions,” Kerry said, eliciting chuckles from the crowd.

Kerry is married to businesswoman and philanthropist Teresa Heinz.

He told a Senate Appropriations panel last week that he and his State Department staff would take about 60 days to review the 3 million public comments submitted on the environmental impact of Keystone XL. He will then make a recommendation to the president on whether or not to approve its construction.
