House committee intends to hold hearing on W.Va. spill
Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) said that a House committee plans to hold a hearing on the West Virginia chemical spill.
The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing — which will examine the Freedom Industries coal-cleaning chemical spill — is expected to take place in the coming weeks in Charleston, W.Va.
{mosads}”My committee has the authority to examine how this happened and to explore what steps can be taken to prevent such spills in the future,” Rahalll said in a statement on Tuesday.
“I have spoken with my committee chairman, [Rep.] Bill Shuster [(R-Pa.)], and we will work to schedule a hearing in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I will continue to do all that I can to help our state with an efficient and effective response to this crisis,” Rahall added.
