Service member in Texas being watched for Ebola symptoms

A service member in Texas is under voluntary quarantine and being watched for possible Ebola-like symptoms after learning he was on a flight with a nurse who is now being treated for Ebola, according to the Military Times

The unidentified service member is stationed at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, and has a relative who attends the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District, which sent out a letter to notify parents.

{mosads}“This family has one child who attends Lake Pointe Elementary,” said the school district release. “District officials will be in regular communication with the family as well as officials from the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base.”

The district said that no family members are exhibiting any symptoms.

The service member flew on Frontier Flight 1143 from Cleveland to Dallas on Monday night, on the same flight as Amber Vinson, a nurse who was infected with Ebola after caring for an Ebola patient in Texas, Thomas Eric Duncan, who later died.

The service member will be in isolation for 21 days upon advisement from the military as a precautionary measure, the Military Times reports
