GOP Intel chiefs offer support for Obama plan
The senior Republicans on the House and Senate Intelligence panels offered support Thursday for President Obama’s plan for tackling Islamic terrorists.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (Mich.) said Congress should provide funding for Obama’s efforts and offer public support for the White House’s policy directions.
{mosads}“We need to do this together,” Rogers said Thursday during remarks at The Ripon Society on Capitol Hill.
“Affirmation by Congress would show that we can do hard things, and we can work together on it,” Rogers said.
“We will not tolerate them threatening the United States,” he added of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss (Ga.), ranking member on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said the issue of fighting ISIS is not partisan.
He said he was most pleased with Obama’s remarks Wednesday night that called on the Arab world to stand with the United States to fight back the terrorism threat.
“We need them in the fight in a big way,” he said.
