Second crewmember dies in Navy helicopter crash
A second crewmember died Wednesday evening after a Navy helicopter crashed off the Virginia coast, and another remains missing.
The Navy said Wednesday that the second crewmember who had been rescued in Tuesday’s crash had died, while the two others are still hospitalized at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va.
{mosads}Those two crewmembers are in serious and fair condition.
The Navy had said earlier Wednesday that one crewmember had died.
The Coast Guard is still searching for the remaining crewmember who is missing after the crash. The Navy said Virginia Beach Fire Department boats located the helicopter’s fuselage and tail section.
The five crewmembers, members of the Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fourteen based in Norfolk, were flying a routine training mission on a MH-53E “Sea Dragon” helicopter Wednesday when it went down in the Atlantic off the Virginia coast.
