US, Russia not among 50 nations pledging to fight cybercrime

The United States and Russia are not among 50 countries that have signed a pledge to fight cybercrimes, including interference in elections, The Associated Press reported.

{mosads}China is also not among the countries that have signed the document pledging to collaborate to prevent cybercrimes. The declaration was published Monday and is supported by European countries as well as tech companies Facebook, Google and Microsoft, according to the AP.

The AP reported that the pledge had been pushed for by French President Emmanuel Macron.

American intelligence agencies have said that Russia interfered in the United States’s election in 2016, a charge Russia has denied. Russia’s interference in the election included hacking the Democratic National Committee with a cyberattack.
