A major cybersecurity conference was rescheduled for June amid unrest in Baltimore over the death of 25-year-old black man Freddie Gray, who was fatally injured in police custody.
The Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association (AFCEA) was due to hold its three-day gathering from Tuesday to Thursday at the Baltimore Convention Center.

“We are happy we successfully rescheduled it to be in Baltimore, and we are glad we can continue working with the city and the convention center team,” AFCEA Executive Director Bob Wood said in a statement.
The event was rescheduled to “ensure the safety of symposium participants and to alleviate additional stress on the city’s resources,” the organization said.
The three-day Defensive Cyber Operations Symposium will focus on the Defense Information Systems Agency and its relationship to the U.S. Cyber Command and the wider Department of Defense. Representatives from each office are scheduled to participate.
Baltimore has been the scene of intense clashes between police and protesters since Gray’s funeral on Monday.
The city’s chief prosecutor charged six police officers on Friday in Gray’s death after the medical examiner ruled it a homicide. The charges include murder and manslaughter.
