Uber adds polling place locator for Election Day

Uber has joined the many technology companies working to get voters to the polls on Election Day.

The ride-hailing company said users would be able to look up the location of their polling place inside the application and request a ride there.

{mosads}“Given the important decision people around the country will make on November 8th, we wanted to make getting to and from your polling place easier than ever,” said Niki Christoff, the company’s head of federal affairs, in a blog post. “Teaming up with Google, Uber is excited to help make that trip as convenient and stress free as possible.”

The company has previously urged its customers and drivers to register to vote.

Many major technology companies have worked this election cycle to boost voter registration and, now, get their users ready to go vote.

Facebook rolled out a service recently that tells a user exactly what will be on their ballots and allows them to earmark the candidates and positions they support. Google also allows users to see sample ballots on search result pages.

Facebook was a sponsor of multiple general election debates. Technology companies also had a large presence at this summer’s national party conventions. Uber was an official partner of the Democratic National Convention.
