Listen: Congress set to punt on legislative fights, and more of today’s news

Lawmakers are rushing to pass a stopgap spending bill before Friday night to keep the government’s lights on into January, pushing several debates to the new year.

Republicans, fresh off their tax-overhaul victory on Wednesday, are poised to pass a “clean” short-term spending bill, or continuing resolution, kicking a slew of legislative fights to 2018.
