President Biden has a massive money advantage over former President Trump, and the numbers are only getting worse for Trump, according to the latest campaign finance reports.
Trump and Biden are on track for a rematch in November that has them campaigning in earnest against each other and trying to build their war chests. Trump saw a slight uptick in the latest reports, which reflect February fundraising totals, from the previous month.
But his monthly haul, as well as his cash on hand entering March, were still dwarfed by Biden’s totals.
Filings made public Wednesday showed Trump brought in $10.9 million last month, while his joint fundraising committee raised nearly $11 million. His operation reported having about $42 million in cash on hand.
Biden’s campaign raised roughly $53 million during that same time, boosting its war chest to $155 million entering March.
The Republican National Committee reported having about $11 million cash in its coffers end of February, trailing the Democratic National Committee’s $26 million cash on hand.
Trump also has been burning through cash to pay legal fees.
Campaign strategists who talked to The Hill’s Brett Samuels and Amie Parnes weren’t impressed by Trump’s reports.
“It’s piss poor,” one GOP strategist told The Hill. “All I can say is they need to do better. Much better. I still think he could win regardless but they’ve got to keep this competitive and it’s not right now.”
Meanwhile, the Biden campaign is trolling Team Trump over the reports.
“If Donald Trump put up these kinds of numbers on ‘The Apprentice,’ he’d fire himself,” Biden campaign spokesman Michael Tyler said in a statement.
Biden will wrap up a three-day trip Thursday to Nevada, Arizona and Texas, which included three fundraisers. He is set to hold a major fundraiser in New York City next week with former Presidents Obama and Clinton.
