Megyn Kelly criticizes Fox News debate: ‘I’m bored’

Megyn Kelly went after Fox News’s first GOP presidential debate Wednesday night, calling the evening “lame,” with poor questions and without a clear winner.

Eight of the nine top candidates faced off in Milwaukee in the race’s first debate, with former President Trump absent.

Kelly, a former Fox News personality, didn’t seem impressed by her former employer’s production, posting during the debate, “I’m bored.”

Moderators opened with a question on the viral conservative country song “Rich Men North of Richmond.” Kelly called the move a “softball,” and urged the group to move to more productive conversation. 

Kelly, who moderated the 2016 GOP primary debate that saw her take sexist insults from Trump, criticized the moderators for interrupting the candidates and not letting them at each other.

“No no no stay out of it and let them fight!!” she said, following up with her disappointment. “They interrupted the fight for … Doug Bergum.”

The debate featured some bouts between candidates, mostly centered on businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. He collected boos for calling climate change a “hoax,” and sparred with both former Vice President Mike Pence and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. 

She also went after the UFO question given to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, noting the strange topic for a presidential debate.

“This is a dumb subject for a presidential debate (ufos),” she said.

But Kelly did have kind words for the moderators after they had to chastise the crowd when they drowned out Christie with boos. Christie had said he would not support Trump if he is nominated as the GOP candidate.

“Good correction by Bret. Audience becoming a distraction,” Kelly tweeted.

In the end, she said the multi-hour affair served the race little.

“With no clear winner, the winner was Trump. Nothing happened to change the dynamic of this race tonight,” she added.
