Tucker Carlson stepping down as The Daily Caller’s editor-in-chief

Tucker Carlson will no longer be involved in day-to-day editorial decisions at The Daily Caller.

{mosads}Carlson told Fox News’s Howard Kurtz during his media affairs program “Media Buzz” on Sunday that walking away from his editor-in-chief position was a difficult decision.

“It was really hard,” Carlson said. “Not because I’m a great manager, I’m a terrible manager. But I loved it and I loved the guys.”

Carlson co-founded the publication nearly seven years ago with Neil Patel, an adviser to former Vice President Dick Cheney. He will maintain his ownership stake in the publication.

Carlson was recently awarded the open 7 p.m. slot on Fox News following Greta Van Susteren’s sudden departure in September. His new program, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” debuted Nov. 14. 

The Daily Caller is ranked No. 9 on the list of the most-visited political websites in the country, with an average of 10 million unique visitors per month, according to Alexa’s rankings.
