Brown offers free tuition to displaced students from University of Puerto Rico
Brown University is offering tuition-free enrollment to students from the University of Puerto Rico, after Hurricane Maria closed down their campus.
The Ivy League university in Providence, R.I., will enroll up to 50 students and help them with travel and housing, according to a release from Brown.
“Partnering with the University of Puerto Rico offers the opportunity for us to welcome exceptional students and scholars to College Hill to continue their research and education while their campuses work to reopen,” Brown Provost Richard Locke said in the release.

Brown has enrolled 15 students so far, according to NBC. The press release from the university said more than 60 students have applied.
Relief efforts in Puerto Rico are ongoing — as of earlier this week, only 18 percent of homes in Puerto Rico have power.
