Former Mexican President Vicente Fox on Friday mocked President Trump for admitting that being president is more difficult than he expected.
“Being president ain’t easy, you know?” Fox tweeted at Trump, suggesting he “just leave.”
Trump said Thursday that he found the presidency more challenging than his past life in the business world.
{mosads}“I loved my previous life,” he told Reuters. “I had so many things going. This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier.”
Trump was reflecting on the first 100 days of his administration, which he will hit on Saturday.
The New York billionaire had never previously held public office before defeating Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in November’s presidential election, something that he has continued to tout. Trump reportedly bragged about his election victory during Thursday’s Reuters interview.
“He sort of interrupted himself and handed out this map of the Electoral College and said that these were the latest figures of the areas in the country that he had won in 2016,” Jeff Mason, Reuters’s White House correspondent, said on CNN.
“So it was clear that the election, even five months after — he’s been in office nearly 100 days and gone through the transition — remains very much on his mind.”
Trump said Friday that the first 100 days of his presidency had been unlike any of his predecessors.
“We’re moving awfully well,” he said at the White House, one day before the symbolic mark. “We’re getting an awful lot of things done.
“I don’t think there’s ever been anything like this. It’s a false standard, 100 days, but I have to tell you, I don’t think anybody has done what we’ve been able to do in 100 days.”
