A Spanish-language campaign ad released Wednesday features Hispanic voters forming a human wall to keep Donald Trump away from the White House.
{mosads}The ad, part of a $3 million campaign targeting Latinos, was released by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and immigrant rights group iAmerica Action.
It starts with Donald Trump’s voice saying, “We are going to build the wall.” A man replies in Spanish, “No, no you won’t.”
“Because we are the wall,” says a woman.
Several characters then list Trump’s claims, policy proposals and scandals as they lock arms.
Finally, another woman says, “We have 27 million votes.”
The ad shows the group with linked arms standing in front of the White House.
“And together, we are the wall between you and the presidency,” says the narrator.
Trump has made the construction of a border wall paid for by Mexico a centerpiece of his campaign. The proposal has angered Hispanics in the United States and Mexicans in their country, but has become a rallying cry for the Republican nominee’s supporters.
The ad, released before the last debate between Trump and Democratic rival Hillary Clinton Wednesday night, will first air in Florida and Nevada, the site of the debate.
Las Vegas has seen a flurry of Latino activism in the days leading up to the debate, the last of three and the only one in which immigration is expected to be a core issue.
Nevada, targeted by both campaigns as a key swing state, has a growing Latino population that could prove decisive in the election.
The state’s Senate race to replace retiring Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D) features Catherine Cortez Masto, the former Nevada attorney general who is bidding to become the first Hispanic woman ever elected to the Senate.
She is fighting a tight race against Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev.), who rescinded his support of Trump after video of the billionaire talking about groping women was revealed.
Heck told supporters at a fundraiser that Trump had “one more debate chance” to turn the race around in Las Vegas, reported CNN.
