Graham: Biden has chance to determine legacy with infrastructure negotiations

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Sunday that President Biden has a chance to determine his legacy amid ongoing infrastructure negotiations.

“I would just say to President Biden, you’ve got a party that’s divided. You’ve got a Republican Party that’s willing to meet you in the middle for a trillion dollars of infrastructure that could fundamentally change the way America does business in roads, ports and bridges and accelerate electrical vehicles. You’ve got to decide what kind of president you are and what kind of presidency you want,” Graham said on “Fox News Sunday.”

The South Carolina Republican also made it clear that he wants a package to pass the Senate through normal channels with a bipartisan deal.

“If you want to work with Republicans to spend a trillion dollars on infrastructure, it’s available to you. If you don’t want to go that route and you pick a $6 trillion reconciliation package, I think you’ll get a lot of pushback from every Republican,” Graham added.

Biden on Monday is expected to address an infrastructure proposal put forward earlier this month by a bipartisan group of senators.

The bipartisan group of 10 lawmakers worked on an approximately $1.2 trillion infrastructure plan as the White House continues to promote its $2.3 trillion plan.
