Sunday shows preview: With less than two months to go, race for the White House heats up

The presidential election is expected to dominate the Sunday talk show circuit this weekend as voter registration and early voting deadlines approach two months out of the election.

The first debate between President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden will take place on Sept. 29 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Trump campaign advisor Jason Miller and Biden campaign advisor Symone Sanders are booked on ABC’s “This week” while Trump advisor Steve Cortes and Biden advisor Jake Sullivan are booked on Fox News Sunday.

Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel is also booked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” as the campaign reaches its final fundraising stretch.

Several excerpts from Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward’s forthcoming book “Rage” were released this week, including one in which White House trade advisor Peter Navarro is quoted saying “his generals [were] p—— [who] care more about their alliances than they do about trade deals.”

Navarro is booked on CNN’s “State of the Union” and Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Former FBI agent Peter Strzok, who was fired from the bureau during the special counsel investigation into Russian meddling during the 2016 campaign, is booked on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Strzok, who is writing a book titled “Counterintelligence and the Threat of Donald J. Trump,” said Tuesday that he believes the president is “compromised,” and would protect his own interests over those of the U.S.
