Scaramucci says Trump will display ‘classic narcissism’ at Republican convention

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Sunday that his former boss will display his “classic narcissism” by dominating the stage every night during this week’s Republican National Convention.

In an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union,” Scaramucci explained that the president wanted to show that he was capable of running his campaign for reelection without the aid of other high-profile Republicans.

“But, knowing his personality, he thinks it’s the right way for him to do it. He thinks it’s all about him, him all the time,” Scaramucci said. “The classic narcissism is to annihilate everybody around you and then show everybody that you can do it all alone, you can do it by yourself.”

{mosads}”It’s all about me and watch me. I’m going to win this without your help,” the former White House aide continued. “And so I’m sure he was advised by some smart, somewhat courageous people inside the campaign not to do that. That level of saturation is beyond ridiculous.”

Scaramucci went on to predict that the president’s strategy for the general election would be to attempt to tie Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden (D) to more left-leaning figures and positions in his party, despite his defeat of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and other progressives during the primary process.

“[T]hat’s what the president’s going to try to do. He’s going to swing the pendulum completely to the left. He’s going to try to radicalize the vice president,” Scaramucci predicted.

“[Y]ou got to think about what the president does to people,” he added. “He wants to divide people, cares less about the unity of the country, and more about his political survival.”

Scaramucci left the White House in 2017 after a brief 11-day tenure as communications director ended by an expletive-laden call with a reporter. He has since come out against the prospect of his former boss’s reelection in November, calling Trump unfit for office and a demagogue.

He previously announced that he was signing on with the Lincoln Project, a group of GOP figures working to oust Trump and elect Biden in November.
