Meadows on leaked audio from Trump’s sister: ‘Just another day and another attack’

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said Sunday that the leaked audio from President Trump’s sister is “just another day and another attack” on the commander-in-chief.

Meadows told ABC’s “This Week” that the recording of Maryanne Trump Barry slamming her younger brother, which was obtained by The Washington Postrepresents “politics as usual.”

“Just another day and another attack that we continue to see,” Meadows said.

“The president that I have the privilege of serving is not the one that’s being described” in the recording of Barry, Meadows told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.

When asked to respond to Barry’s remarks in the recording that the president had another person take exams in order to enroll in the University of Pennsylvania, Meadows deflected.

{mosads}“Listen, this is politics as usual by a niece that was written out of a will that would apparently just has an axe to grind because she wants Joe Biden to be president,” Meadows said.

“I can tell you this that this president, each and every day, is not only well prepped but does more than any president than I’ve ever been able to have the privilege of researching and reading about in terms of wanting to make sure that we advance critical, critical agendas for the hardworking American people,” he added.

Meadows’s response to Barry’s recording comes after its release on Saturday.

“All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” Barry reportedly said in the audio in reference to his immigration policies. “He has no principles. None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.”

“His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God,” she added. “I’m talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy shit.”

Barry’s recording followed a book published by Trump’s niece Mary Trump, the daughter of Trump’s brother Fred, which ripped into the culture of the president and the Trump family.

In a statement to The Hill on Saturday, the president seemed to dismiss his sister’s audio, saying “Every day it’s something else, who cares.”

“I miss my brother, and I’ll continue to work hard for the American people,” he said referencing his brother Robert Trump who died last week. “Not everyone agrees, but the results are obvious. Our country will soon be stronger than ever before.”
