Gorka: John F. Kennedy wouldn’t be allowed in Democratic Party
Former White House aide Sebastian Gorka took aim at Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and progressive members of the Democratic Party in a new interview, asserting that former President Kennedy would not be welcome in the modern-day incarnation of his party.
In an interview airing Sunday on AM 970 in New York, Gorka tells “The Answer” host John Catsimatidis that a “hardcore, pro-national security politician” such as Kennedy would be unwelcome in the party.
{mosads}”Today, a hardcore, pro-national security politician like John F. Kennedy would not be allowed in the Democrat party. That’s how bad it is,” Gorka says, adding: “The lunatics are taking over the asylum … Bill Clinton and his ilk would at least rein in the loonies.”
“When you’ve got Kamala Harris comparing [the Department of Homeland Security] and [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] to the [Ku Klux Klan] … When you’ve got Ocasio-Cortez, who’s publicly calling for a socialist revolution … you understand that the Democrat party has been taken over by radicals,” Gorka adds in the interview.
Kennedy was frequently attacked during his 1960 campaign for president by Republicans for policies called socialist at the time, including a plan for government grants for students to attend medical schools and federal funding for programs aimed at helping the poor.
Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, won election to Congress last week after defeating incumbent Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) in her district’s primary election earlier this year by double-digits.
Earlier this week, the congresswoman-elect joined protesters in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) office to demand the formation of a congressional committee on climate change.
