Conway: Kavanaugh should not be seen as tainted
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Sunday that Justice Brett Kavanaugh should not be seen as “tainted” by the allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against him.
“He should be seen as somebody that went through seven FBI investigations, including just in this last week, another that was completed this past July, had answered 1,200 written questions, had produced about a million pages of documents, submitted himself to about 33 or 35 hours of sworn testimony to the Senate, including denying the allegations that were put before him,” Conway told ABC’s “This Week.”
{mosads}”They should look at his entire record the way Sen. Susan Collins [R-Maine] did,” Conway added. “She said that she had been briefed by 19 attorneys, that she had read his opinions, she quoted from those opinions.”
Conway noted Collins’s concerns that “we’re giving up on basic principles that make America so wonderful, including fairness and due process and the presumption of innocence.”
“The Supreme Court is a sacrosanct institution, thank God, that can withstand much and it will withstand the fact that there were a lot of political machinations,” Conway said.

Kavanaugh was narrowly confirmed to the Supreme Court Saturday after a chaotic and heated confirmation battle.
Republicans said an FBI investigation did not find corroboration of the sexual misconduct claims against Kavanaugh, something that helped convince Collins and Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) to support him.
Democrats, however, have said that that final FBI investigation was not thorough enough and have disputed its scope.
