More than 14 tons of Oregon ground beef recalled for possible E. coli contamination

More than 14 tons of Oregon ground beef was recalled for possible E. coli contamination on Thursday. 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Interstate Meat Distributors Inc. recalled 28,356 pounds of ground beef products. 

The meat was produced on Dec. 20 and could be in stores in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.                       

The recalled products from the Oregon company have the bear establishment number “EST. 965” on the packaging. 

E. coil can cause two to eight days of dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps. In rare cases, exposure can lead to death.

The agency is concerned the products are in the homes of consumers and advise people to check the packaging and throw away products if needed.
