Malikah Shabazz, the daughter of assassinated civil rights activist Malcolm X, died on Monday.
The 56-year-old Shabazz was found unconscious in her Brooklyn home, and the New York Police Department said her death appeared to be the result of natural causes, CNN reported.
Shabazz was the youngest of Malcolm X’s three daughters.
Bernice King, daughter of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., voiced her sadness over the loss of Shabazz in a tweet.
“I’m deeply saddened by the death of #MalikahShabazz. My heart goes out to her family, the descendants of Dr. Betty Shabazz and Malcolm X. Dr. Shabazz was pregnant with Malikah and her twin sister, Malaak, when Brother Malcolm was assassinated. Be at peace, Malikah,” the tweet said.
Just last week, a New York judge dismissed the convictions of Muhammad A. Aziz and the late Khalil Islam, who had been prosecuted for the 1965 killing of Malcolm X.
