Travis Scott to cover funeral expenses related to fatal concert

Rapper Travis Scott will cover all funeral expenses for the eight victims who died at his Astroworld Festival on Friday, CNN reported.

“Travis remains in active conversations with the city of Houston, law enforcement and local first responders to respectfully and appropriately connect with the individuals and families of those involved,” a representative for Scott said in a statement Monday.

“These are the first of many steps Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process.”

Scott will also partner with BetterHelp to provide free mental health services to all of those affected in the tragedy, according to CNN.

Sources also told CNN that Astroworld organizers will provide full refunds to all ticket holders who attended Friday’s slate of performances and those who had tickets for Saturday’s canceled event.

Live Nation, the organizer of the festival, said in a statement the company is “working on ways to support attendees, the families of victims, and staff” by providing mental health counseling and help with hospital costs, CNN reported.

At least 36 concertgoers and their families have sued the organizers of event, according to the Houston Chronicle, alleging negligence in preventing the disaster.

Houston Police Department has also launched a criminal investigation into the incident, with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) directing state agencies to provide resources to support local officials.
