At least two people were killed and four others, including one police officer, were injured in a shooting at a mall in Boise, Idaho, on Monday.

“Five people and a Boise Police officer were injured in this event. Police are making notifications to family of those involved and continuing to clear the mall,” the Boise Police Department said on Twitter.

According to the department, one person is in custody.

The Idaho Statesman reported that at least one person was observed being taken away from the scene of the shooting on a gurney. People have been asked to stay away from the mall for the time being, with streets around the mall being closed off.

Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee later confirmed in a press briefing that two people were killed in the shooting.

According to Lee, officers responded to the Boise Towne Square mall at around 1:15 p.m. local time following reports of shots fired and at least one person being hit. When officers arrived at the scene, they exchanged gunfire with the suspected shooter, resulting in one officer being injured.

Only one shooter is suspected of being behind the deadly incident. According to Lee, it is too soon to determine any type of motive for the shooting.
