Indiana recruiting unvaccinated Chicago officers

Indiana is attempting to recruit unvaccinated Chicago police officers who are fighting their city over its coronavirus vaccine mandate. 

“Hey Chicago Police Officers, we’re hiring! No vaccine mandate,” a spokesperson for the Indiana State Police tweeted on Wednesday.

Indiana Sen. Mike Braun (R) also joined in the calls as Republicans did in against vaccine mandates nationwide.

“My office stands ready to help connect Chicago police officers to an Indiana police department that is hiring now and doesn’t have a vaccine mandate,” Braun tweeted Tuesday. “Welcome to Indiana!”

At least 21 Chicago officers have been put on a “no pay” status for not complying with the city’s vaccine mandate. 

Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown said 82 percent of officers have indicated they are fully vaccinated, leaving 4,000 officers who have not submitted their vaccination status. 

Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police has been fighting against the mandate and telling officers not to comply with it. 

Braun previously condemned the mandate and the city, saying it needs to treat the officers with more respect. 

“Our police do the hardest job in the world, and they deserve respect — not losing their pay or being fired for refusing to comply with a ridiculous vaccine mandate,” Braun said in a statement to Fox News.
