Nebraska Lt. Gov. Mike Foley (R) tested positive for COVID-19 and will quarantine the rest of the week, his spokesman Justin Pinkerman said Tuesday, according to The Associated Press.
The governor’s office cleared Foley’s schedule for the rest of the week.
It is unclear when he tested positive or if he is vaccinated against the virus.
Foley is one of a few high-profile COVID-19 cases in Nebraska’s capital, with Nebraska Secretary of State Bob Evnen testing positive in September.
Foley has been in his current office since 2015 and was previously the state auditor.
More than a dozen U.S. House members and senators have contracted COVID-19 throughout the pandemic, including multiple breakthrough cases with lawmakers who were fully vaccinated.
