Texas gas station clerk arrested after fatally shooting accused thief

A Texas gas station clerk has been arrested after he fatally shot a man who he accused of stealing from his store.

The Dallas Police Department said Delon Johnson was arrested and charged with murder after he shot at two suspected robbers, killing one.

Investigators said the thieves went into the 7-Eleven and took four cases of beer without paying, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

Johnson called the police Wednesday night saying two men had taken items from his store and that he had shot at them.

Police say the 23-year-old Johnson followed the two men to the parking lot where he told them to drop the beer.

Johnson is accused of shooting at the vehicle when the men refused to give back the items. The two drove off and the was found by police.

One of the victims fled while the other was taken to a hospital, where he died. 

The police say the investigation is ongoing.
