Judge clears way for Larry Elder to appear on California recall ballot
A California judge has cleared conservative radio host Larry Elder (R) to appear on the state gubernatorial recall ballot, The Associated Press reported.
Superior Court Judge Laurie M. Earl on Wednesday ruled that state officials could not block Elder from appearing on the ballot for not publicly releasing his tax records for the last five years, a new rule Democrats has passed that was aimed at former President Trump.
“I don’t find that Mr. Elder was required to file tax returns at all,” Earl said.
Earl determined that the new requirement didn’t apply to the recent recall election, according to the AP.
“Victory!” Elder wrote in a tweet. “My next one will be on Sept. 14 at the ballot box.”

Elder, who announced his gubernatorial bid on July 12, joins 45 other hopefuls on the ballot for the state’s recall election, which is aimed at removing Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) from office.
The other gubernatorial candidates included former reality TV star and Olympian Caitlyn Jenner (R), businessman John Cox (R), state assembly member Kevin Killey (R) and former San Diego mayor Kevin Faulconer (R), the AP reported.
California’s recall election will happen on Sept. 14.
