Maine authorities seized cocaine disguised as cake, arrested two

Maine authorities have arrested two people in connection with smuggling $200,000 worth of cocaine, which was disguised as a cake, NBC affiliate WBTS reported Wednesday.

A representative for the Maine Department of Public Safety told WBTS that the suspects were able to disguise two pounds of cocaine by wrapping it in plastic and sprinkling ground coffee on it. 

The packing on the fake cake read in Spanish “Perfect white and ideal flow!” and weighed at one kilogram. 

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said that they and local police arrested Chelsey Cochran, 33, of Maine, and John Cedeno, 25, of New York on Tuesday after getting a tip. 

Cochran and Cedeno were booked and released on bail at the Kennebec County Jail. The two suspects are expected in court on Wednesday, the NBC affiliate noted

Authorities stopped the two suspects on Interstate 295 in Maine. A drug-sniffing dog found the cocaine in the vehicle’s truck, according to WBTS.
