3 hurt in Milwaukee shootings during celebrations for Bucks NBA Finals win
Three people were hurt in Milwaukee shootings after celebrations occurred for the Bucks’ first NBA Finals win in 50 years.
The police announced on Wednesday there were two shootings that happened at the same time early in the morning.
The shootings occurred around 12:42 a.m. in an area near the basketball stadium, where crowds were celebrating the Bucks’ win in crowded bars and restaurants and in the streets. As many as 65,000 were estimated to have gathered outside in the streets surrounding the stadium.
A 22-year-old man was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries in one shooting.
A second shooting had two victims, a 19-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man. Both had non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
There is one suspect in custody but police are looking for additional suspects.
The shots were heard on a local TV station that was broadcasting the celebration, The Associated Press reported.
The Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns 105-98, winning the series four games to two.
