A California man was hospitalized after being bitten by a great white shark at the beach, CNN reported on Saturday.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said that a 35-year-old man was swimming off of Grey Whale Cove State Beach when he was bitten in the leg by a 6- to 8-foot shark. Police said he was able to swim to shore to receive medical assistance.
Officials closed the beach after the incident.
A Cal Fire unit in Santa Cruz said that firefighters and paramedics treated the man with “advanced life support” before he was transported to a local trauma center in serious condition.
