Woman killed when car strikes protesters in Minnesota
A woman was killed and three others were injured on Sunday after a vehicle struck a group of people protesting police brutality in the streets of Minneapolis.
The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) shared a series of tweets showing that a vehicle struck protesters at the intersection of Lake Street and Girard Avenue at 11:39 p.m.
Protesters then pulled the suspect out of his vehicle, where he was arrested by police and taken into custody.
The MPD said that an unidentified adult woman died at the hospital from her injuries in the crash. Three other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The MPD added that the suspect sustained injuries during the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Minneapolis has seen ongoing protests after U.S. marshals shot and killed 32-year-old Winston Boogie Smith Jr. earlier this month.
Smith’s death comes after the police killings of George Floyd in May 2020 and Daunte Wright in April. Both Floyd’s and Wright’s deaths have sparked major movements over social injustice and police reform in the country.
