An IHOP employee was killed and another wounded in a shooting in Louisiana on Tuesday, WBRZ reported.
The Easton Baton Rouge Police said that a vehicle pulled up to the parking lot of the restaurant where two employees were standing outside. Authorities said that two masked men got out of the vehicle and opened fire on the employees.
Paramedics found one of the employees dead inside the restaurant and the other was near the road and is expected to survive, according to WBRZ.
Authorities added that the vehicle the suspects used was stolen and was later found burning on the highway near where the second victim was found.
“We’re currently working with the franchisee and local team to better understand the details surrounding the tragic and senseless incident that occurred at the Baton Rouge IHOP today. For now, the priority is on taking care of the guests and team members who were there,” an IHOP spokesperson said in an email to The Hill.
“The restaurant team is working closely with and assisting authorities to piece together the events that unfolded. The restaurant is currently closed pending an investigation. This is a heartbreaking situation and our thoughts at this time are with the individuals and the families of those involved. Counseling for team members who request it, is available.”
Police are still investigating the incident and are looking for the two suspects, according to WBRZ.
