Eight indicted in hazing death of Bowling Green student

An Ohio jury has indicted eight Bowling Green State University students over the hazing death of 20-year-old student Stone Foltz.

WJW reported Thursday that Jacob Krinn, Daylen Dunson, Troy Henricksen, Canyon Caldwell, Niall Sweeney, Jarrett Prizel, Aaron Lehane and Benjamin Boyers have been charged in connection with Foltz’s death. Six of the men were charged with third degree involuntary manslaughter, while Krinn was also charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter.

Lehane and Boyers were charged with failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, but were not charged with manslaughter.

Third degree manslaughter charges carry a maximum three year penalty while first degree manslaughter charges carry a maximum penalty of 11 years.

Foltz, a sophomore business student, died in March after allegedly being forced to drink large amounts of alcohol during a fraternity hazing ritual at Bowling Green’s chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. The fraternity has since been stripped of its status as student organization by Bowling Green.

The Columbus Dispatch reported earlier this month that Foltz had a blood alcohol content of 0.394, which is almost five times the legal limit to be considered drunk in Ohio.

The national chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity said it was “horrified and outraged” by Foltz’s death.

“We extend our deepest and sincere sympathy to the student’s family and friends and all of those affected by this tragic loss,” the fraternity said in a statement to ABC News.
