One killed after shooting at Pennsylvania Wawa
One man was killed after a shooting outside of a Pennsylvania convenience store on Wednesday, according to Lehigh County District Attorney James Martin.
On Wednesday at about 4:48 a.m., a suspect in a white Toyota Corolla allegedly fired at a woman driving on a nearby highway. The woman later pulled into the lot of a Wawa in Upper Macungie Township, and realized that her car had a bullet hole in it, Martin said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Later, the suspect in the white car also pulled into the convenience store lot and reportedly fired at a man in his Jeep, injuring him.
He also allegedly fatally shot a truck driver who was pumping gas, Martin said.
The suspect later took his own life by shooting himself in the hand and in the chest after walking a quarter of a mile away from the incident.
Martin said a Wawa employee ordered customers to come inside the store when the shooting occurred and locked the doors. The Pennsylvania DA praised the employee, stating, “All credit to him.”
An investigation into the event is ongoing, Martin added.
The news from Pennsylvania comes amid a spate of shootings that have occurred in the U.S. since the beginning of the year.
Just this week, one person was killed and two others were injured following a shooting at a Long Island grocery store.
