GOP senator sings ‘Born Free’ to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations
Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) shared his rendition of Matt Monro’s “Born Free” this week in an effort to encourage Louisiana residents to get the coronavirus vaccine.
In a video posted to Twitter, the republican senator belted out the first few lines of the song.
“Born free, as free as the wind blows, as free as the grass grows, born free to follow your heart,” he sang.
“Live free, and beauty surrounds you, the world still astounds you, each time you look at a star.”
Live free. Be cool. Get the #coronavirus vaccine.
I did. It works. pic.twitter.com/Q2dZpD9ZaF

The senator acknowledged that while his forte may not be music, he is “free” because of the coronavirus vaccine.
“I’m senator John Kennedy. I can’t sing very well, but I’m free,” he said. “Get the vaccine. I did. It works.”
Several commenters thanked the senator for his message, noting that it encouraged them.
