One dead, four wounded in shooting at Texas business

Police say one person is dead and multiple others are wounded after a shooting in Bryan, Texas.

The shooting occurred at Kent Moore Cabinets and the suspect, who is now in custody, is a store employee, police said.

Authorities said there were seven victims in the shooting: one was killed; four are in critical condition; one suffered a minor injury; and one went to the hospital for asthma-related issues.

“At this site, when law enforcement showed up it was already over with,” Bryan Police Lt. Jason James said at press conference.

Police said the gunman used a handgun during the incident.

Later, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was shot and critically injured while pursuing the suspect.

Law enforcement has not released the name of the trooper or the suspected gunman. There is no known motive at this time.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for Houston said on Twitter they sent special agents and a K-9 to help assist with the investigation and search for the suspect.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) tweeted: “I’ve been working with @TxDPS & TX Rangers as they assist local law enforcement on a swift response to this criminal act. Their efforts led to the arrest of the shooting suspect.”
