Police are searching for 5 escaped monkeys in Cincinnati

Police are on the lookout for five monkeys that escaped from a private home in the Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati, WLWT reported.

Cincinnati police and local volunteers were searching through a nearby cemetery where the monkeys were last seen. Officers said that they saw three monkeys swinging through trees at the cemetery, but haven’t caught them yet.

An animal officer working with the search crew said that monkeys tend to find a resting place during the nighttime.

Witnesses say that the five monkeys are all around 5 feet tall. They are reportedly different breeds.

“I started making jokes showing my mom. My mom thought I was crazy,” witness Alycha Tucker told WLWT. “I said, ‘look there’s monkeys out here.’ Then I heard it making the noises, not ‘ooh ooh aah aah’ stuff, but grunts, so I didn’t know what it was.”

“I just stood there as my eyes adjusted to pitch blackness and that is when I saw it, just standing there, taller than garbage can, and its arms were real long hanging down and its arms are real skinny,” Tucker said.

WCPO reported that no moneys had been found as of 11 a.m. Thursday.
