Navy medic killed after injuring 2 in Maryland shooting
U.S. Navy officials said a hospital corpsman was killed Tuesday at the Army’s Fort Detrick military base in Frederick, Md., after authorities said he opened fire at a nearby business park.
Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet, 38, shot two men at the Riverside Tech business park using a rifle before driving to the Army base, where he was shot and killed.
One of the victims is in critical condition. The other is expected to be released from the hospital tomorrow, Lando said.
Woldesenbet was an active duty servicemember. He did not live on Fort Detrick, Lando said.
Lando said it was unclear if the shooter had a motive or any connection to the victims.
