Suspect in shooting of 4 in California charged with murder

A man accused of killing four people, including a child, this week in Southern California was charged Friday with murder and attempted murder.

The Associated Press reported that Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez has been charged with killing the four people, including a 9-year-old boy, after entering an Orange, Calif., business where his wife worked.

The boy’s mother was also critically injured during the shooting.

Kimberly Edds, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, told the AP that Gonzalez’s hearing was pushed back until Monday as he was still hospitalized.

Gonzalez was admitted to the hospital with gunshot wounds after the shooting.

The district attorney’s office did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.

Gonzalez appears to have known all of the victims, and Orange Police Department spokesperson Lt. Jennifer Amat said during a Wednesday press conference that the incident “was not a random act of violence.”

“The preliminary motive is believed to be related to a business and personal relationship which existed between the suspect and all of the victims,” she told reporters.

Gonzalez was also charged with one felony enhancement of premeditation and numerous firearm charges over the incident, NBC News reports.
