Oklahoma man arrested after allegedly shooting woman taking Nazi flag from his yard

An Oklahoma man known for displaying Nazi flags in his yard was arrested on Sunday after police said he shot a woman who was dared to steal them.

Local news affiliate Fox 8 reported that Garfield County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 44-year-old Alexander Feaster and charged him with shooting with intent to kill and battery with a deadly weapon over the incident, which reportedly occurred after a woman was dared by attendees of a house party across the street to nab the flags.

Neighbors told the news station that the flags are unpopular but that Feaster has not been involved in violent incidents before.

“Nobody really knows him,” one source told the news station, adding that the flags have been flying for about a year. “He keeps to himself.”

“It’s never really been a problem. His flags got stolen a couple times when he first put them out but nothing ever came of it. This is the first time it’s ever come to violence,” the neighbor continued. “He’s been out mowing neighbors yards and just smiling and waving at everyone.”

The Garfield County sheriff told the news station that the woman suffered “multiple gunshot wounds” and was treated on-scene by deputies before being taken to a hospital.

“We recovered the suspect’s rifle and we got about fourteen guns out of there and some ammunition,” said Sheriff Jody Helm.

A Gab account under Feaster’s name has been active since 2019 and prominently displays a Nazi flag as the profile’s background image. An SS motto is also listed in the profile’s information section.

Feaster’s arrest comes as protests against racism and racial inequality have erupted around the country in response to the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25.
