Where protesters will be marching in DC today

Demonstrators are converging on downtown Washington, D.C., to protest the police killing of George Floyd, demanding that swift and significant systemic change happen to the nation’s law enforcement and justice system.

D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said earlier in the week that Saturday’s protests could produce record crowds. In anticipation, the department closed the majority of downtown to traffic, including around the White House and most of the National Mall.

Protests began in the morning, with the first organized demonstration starting at the Lincoln Memorial at noon, which drew hundreds of people.
