Four girls were injured after an attacker entered a Massachusetts movie theater and stabbed them on Saturday.

The suspect, whose identity is unavailable, got into one of the theaters without paying at around 6 p.m. local time on Saturday and “without saying anything and without any warning, he suddenly attacked and stabbed the four young females,” the Braintree, Mass., police department said in a release about the incident.

The girls, ages nine to 17, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transferred to Boston hospitals, according to police.

The police said the attack “appeared to be unprovoked.”

Following the attack at the AMC Braintree theater, the suspect ran out and left the area in a black SUV.

Law enforcement said the same suspect might have been involved in a previous assault in Plymouth, Mass., located less than 30 miles from Braintree. Massachusetts state police were involved in a chase after which the vehicle crashed in Sandwich, Mass., around 45 miles away from Braintree, Braintree Police Department said Saturday night. The driver was taken into custody.

Law enforcement was able to obtain the license plate number using video footage after the incident in Braintree.

The suspect could also be connected to a murder investigation in Connecticut, CBS Boston reported on Saturday, citing multiple sources. Law enforcement described him as dangerous and possibly having a 10-inch knife, according to CBS Boston.
