Hillary Clinton resurfaced the viral photo of former President Trump looking at the sun during a solar eclipse in 2017, as millions of Americans are preparing to view the rare phenomenon again Monday.
Clinton shared the photo Monday on the social platform X of Trump looking up at the sun without wearing protective eclipse glasses. The photo was taken during the 2017 White House event at which the then-president, alongside first lady Melania Trump, viewed the solar eclipse.
Clinton posted the photo alongside a 2020 tweet from her that stated: “Please do not take medical advice from a man who looked directly at a solar eclipse.”
During the 2017 event, one of Trump’s aides shouted “Don’t look” when he took off his glasses to look at the sun.
NASA has warned people to not attempt to look at the sun during the solar eclipse Monday without wearing solar viewing glasses, warning of immediate eye damage. The agency said the glasses must comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard, noting that eclipse glasses are thousands of times darker than typical sunglasses.
Parts of 13 states will be in the path of the total eclipse, while parts of other states will be able to view a partial eclipse Monday.
