The New York City Police Department (NYPD) evacuated a transit station at Fulton Street and William Street Friday morning after two pressure cookers were discovered at the station, prompting fears of explosive devices.

Officers were searching nearby stations for similar devices after the discovery, according to the NYPD.

NBC 4 New York reported that service and commutes at the Fulton Street station were “heavily disrupted” but no injuries were reported.

“ADVISORY: Please avoid the area of Fulton St & William St in the Fulton St subway station (Manhattan) due to a police investigation. Expect a police presence and emergency vehicles in the area. Check @NYCTSubway for possible schedule changes,” the NYPD tweeted Friday morning.

NYPD officials cleared the station for reopening a little less than an hour after the situation began, according to NBC.

NYPD officials confirmed on Twitter after the station was reopened that another suspicious package had been discovered in the city’s Chelsea neighborhood.

“UPDATE: We continue to investigate a suspicious package at W 16th St & 7th Ave. Please continue to avoid the area. Expect a police presence and emergency vehicles in the area,” the NYPD tweeted.

CNBC reported that the object on West 16th Street was found near a garbage can and appeared to be another pressure cooker or rice cooker.

The intersection was taped off by police Friday morning as they investigated the scene, according to witnesses.
