University of Kansas to offer course on ‘Angry White Male’

The University of Kansas is set to offer a new course next school year called “Angry White Male Studies,” The Associated Press reported.

The class, which the school’s academic catalog says will examine “the rise of the ‘angry white male’ in America and Britain since the 1950s, exploring the deeper sources of this emotional state,” has drawn the ire of some conservatives, including Kansas Rep. Ron Estes (R).

{mosads}Estes wrote on Twitter Wednesday that the course “divides the student population” and lamented that the university did not offer a class to “unite people and empower women.”

The course is being taught by humanities professor Christopher Forth, who is a white man. Forth did not immediately reply to a request for comment from The Hill.

USA Today reported that the course has a prerequisite course titled “Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies” 101 or 102, though students can go straight into the course with written permission from Forth.

Forth is the author of several books on the topic, including “Masculinity in the Modern West.”

The course will be offered for the first time in the fall semester.
