Nevada Dem sanctioned for sexual misconduct announces city council bid

Former Rep. Ruben Kihuen (D-Nev.), who was sanctioned last year by the House Ethics Committee over sexual harassment allegations, announced Tuesday that he is seeking a seat on the Las Vegas city council.

Kihuen wrote on Twitter that he is “ready to continue serving the people of Nevada.”

“I will work hard to earn your vote on April 2nd for Las Vegas City Council Ward 3,” he added.

{mosads}Kihuen, who served one term in the House, did not seek reelection last year amid sexual harassment allegations.

The House Ethics Committee in November announced that it was formally sanctioning Kihuen and wrote in a report that he made “persistent and unwanted [sexual] advances” toward women “who were required to interact with him as part of their professional responsibilities.”

Kihuen denied the allegations, but the Ethics Committee report stated that the accusations brought by three separate women were each “supported by documentary evidence” and that some of the alleged incidents “were corroborated by third party witnesses.”
