Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) on Wednesday congratulated her successor, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), on the birth of his daughter this week.
McCaskill, who lost her Senate seat to Hawley in 2018, offered “congratulations to the Hawley family” on Twitter in response to Hawley’s own post announcing that his family was headed home from the hospital with the newborn.
Hawley and his wife’s youngest child, Abigail, was born on Monday, according to the senator’s Twitter feed. She is the couple’s first daughter.
McCaskill now works as a contributor for MSNBC and has also been a visiting fellow at University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics.
